Andjani Autumn Gatzweiler

Andjani Autumn Gatzweiler is a German-Indonesian director and editor with a background in traditional illustration. Her use of mixed media in her work stems from her experiences in editing anime music videos for YouTube as a teenager. Drawing her own comics early on she discovered her love for storytelling and began working as an illustrator and filmmaker in science communication before pursuing directing and editing.

Influenced by old Indonesian folktales and Studio Ghibli movies, Andjani‘s work today is characterized by otherworldly stories that wander between romance and gloom. She is currently involved as a director, writer and curator for the arts and film project “Cyber Melancholia” bringing together artists from Southeast Asia and Europe to explore themes surrounding mental health and the human-machine
relationship online.
